Introduction

The definition of "external fixation" actually includes many different techniques, united by the mere fact of presenting a part of the apparatus that remains outside the patient's body. The biomechanical characteristics and the indications of use can however be substantially different among the various types of external fixators available. The purpose of this site is to provide as much as possible the technical information concerning the use of different types of fixators, Polylock, Binary, Dynamic, Circular and Hybrid, in order to optimize their use by interested users, but also to provide suggestions for the choice of the type of fixator to be used, providing different examples of clinical application. However, this commitment in terms of technical support must never be interpreted as an absolute technical indication, the choice of which remains the main prerogative of the surgeon.
